Anyone on here with bass knobs?

..And where did you put them? I really want to get a bass knob for my system, but I dont know where I would put it. I was thinking about cruise control, but i would rather keep that and have a better place. Taking out the light dimmer switch seems like a good idea, but I don't want to lose the dash lights (?). I was thinking about putting it in the ashtray, but thats like my last resort because thats where i keep my change and there are a lot of tolls where I live.

Any other ideas?

I dont have one on my teg.. Its controlled through my head unit for the most part.. But I had one in my RX8, and the ideal location was next to my right knee under the dash. But imo for me personally, I never really used it, I just kept it at max all the time.

But keep in mind, I just had one sub in that car, separated by me from the trunk. Now i have 2 12s sitting behind me, and I'd prefer the bass knob now so I dont have to keep clicking my knob button till it gets to the sub decibels, just so its quicker..

Again, depends on your needs. If you're going to use it alot for whatever reason, then go for it. And vice versa

Do it in the ashtray area, that way its not in your way. Also get an ipass no more loose change everywhere.

@superhypered - I would just use the EQ on my head unit, but from the mean screen its like 5 or 6 clicks on different buttons, and it involves moving the wheel too....basically its impossible to do without looking at the screen and it takes too long to do it when im driving.

@JGvtec - ipass is one of the toll paying things right? Its called EZ pass where I live but same idea I think. I dont think I'm gonna get one though for a lot of reasons. The ashtray really works good for me anyway because I can take it out and look through it fast when i get to the toll.

So this might seem like a weird question, but here it is: is there supposed to be a change holder / drawer on the left side of the steering wheel? Reason I am asking is because i have seen pictures where it looks like there is one, but that part of my car is taken apart right now and I cant really tell what used to be there...

le uhm.. what do you mean, "taken apart"? Like they pulled the coin tray out? or cut a hole?..... mo details and pics possibly?

nothing from nowhere
just leave the dimmer switch hooked up and all the way up and push it behind the dash and use beatbox's idea

So there is a tray there? By taken apart, I mean the tray and everywhere around it is gone, all i see is wires. But the wires were kind of hanging, theres no shape for them and I dont see where the tray would go.

Taking the dimmer knob out seems like a good idea, but I missed what beatbox did...I see two dimmer switches, I see a bass knob, but I don't see how he put it all together.

damn great minds think alike lol
thats exactly what i did, i bought a spare one from here and hid it behind there. plenty of room, my dash piece that goes around the gauges is not screwed in so i can just pop it out and move the dimmer up and down

i did what i mentioned above ^ ^ ^
the the bass knob wire(looks like a phone cable) runs to where the original dimmer switch would be, but now is the new bass knob

Hmm I might have to steal your idea...but so to understand, is the whole bass knob hooked up to the back of the new dimmer switch? Or did you take the bass knob apart and just connect the wire? But then how did you get the wires from the bass knob to work with the dimmer switch? I think i'm still missing something here...

hahaha jk, you basically got ghetto rig it in there, take the "case" or outter part off the actual bass knob off and just use the main parts

the dimmer switch u also take out the inside stuff then cut it to the point that the knob part of the bass knob will sit in the middle of the hole. i held everything with electrical tape, aslong as it held it didnt matter to me

instal of the plastic knob that comes with the bass knob u make the dimmer knob thing fit on there instead

no RIGHT way of doing it really

i can get more pictures of it, but those are basically all the same as the ones i posted already

Haha ok thanks I think I get what your saying now..I'm gonna try it, and maybe put the JL audio logo or something on the knob instead of the light picture. If anyone has an extra bass knob, i'd be happy to take it off your hands...?
