Best route for horsepower

Yea. All motor preferably
If this is the case, your gonna want to do a swap, and build the motor. (cams, ECU, intake, ETC.) It gets exspensive to do all motor, It would probably be cheaper to do boost, and still get good gas mileage. IMO

What turbo kit would you recommend? Also what would be an ideal amount of psi to run on a "DD" without blowing the motor?

Just boost your ls, and do a rebuild. Use arp rod bolts, Acl race bearings, rock rings piston rings, and oem head gasket, oh and arp head studs. That thing will be solid. Put your limiter at 7200, use an older Mitsubishi eclipse turbo (they spool fast), and use 650cc injectors, run 91 octane, and get it tuned. Of course, there's more involved in boost, but those are a few of the specific parts I would go for. There is a section for boost here, check it out.

There is no right answer for that, 10psi on one turbo can be like 15psi on another, 20psi on one can be like 13psi on another. It will depend on the size of the turbo, the tune, and many other variables. Find a trustworthy and reputable tuner, and talk with him/her about what they would recommend. Best advice I can give you bro.

That's what we are here for, if you wanna talk boost with someone who knows some stuff, talk to "guy from nerk", he is a very reputable source for turbo information on here. When I go boost, I'll be filling his pm inbox with questions, he knows a lot.

You can't get a good turbo set up for $600-800.... read up kiddo.

OH JEE, THANKS! >_>

I don't know why everybody thinks that naturally aspirated motors are more daily driver friendly? It's still possible to get good gas mileage on a boosted setup.. just as easy as getting good mileage on a built n/a setup. Probably easier actually.

I vote boost..

Lol Kris is rather knowledgeable as well, I'd also contact him for information regarding forced induction. We all know a little, so anything one of us doesn't know, someone who's creeping threads is sure to know and usually chimes in.

Nitrous is cheapest? It runs out! Eventually the cost of rigging up No2 will pass the cost of a good turbo setup.

This is what 280whp N/A looks like.
You won't be able to drive it on the street and it's nasty.
