B20 vtec?

So my 1994 LS is nearing 300,000 MI and has an almost disheartening starting problem.

My question is this, how hard would it be to swap in a B20 engine with a B16 VTEC head (off of, say, an EM1). Blackworks makes a VTEC Conversion kit that supposedly fits all B series engines, that's all fine and dandy, but what will it net me power-wise. I'm thinking of a very mild build, hoping to produce about 180-190 BHP, nothing special, just something that can compete with the V6 mustangs around here.

Instead of the B20 just get a gsr motor. I mean what the b20 is what around +/- 140. Instead of messing with the hassle with the whole vtec head and the conversion I'd just go with a gsr motor.

its not that hard (if you've done swaps before). i dont know how hard it is to do crvtec though, i've never done that. as far as numbers, it all depends on the condition of the parts, the dyno, the temp, what you've done to it, etc etc. but ive heard some b20vtec numbers in that range before.

ps do you still want that spoiler?

I want the B20 solely for the torque. I agree, the GSR swap would be easier, but I want something that I can point to and say, "yeah, I did that". Plus, nobody around here has done anything like it, and I like being unique. I'll have my best friend to help me so it'll be easy.

On top of that, a GSR engine around these parts is almost deathly expensive. I can have a B20, B16 or B18 VTEC head, nice pistons, and ARP bolts/studs for as much as it would cost to simply swap in a GSR B18C. And no, I'm not kidding.

As to 96 GSRteg, sorry but I've had a lot come up and saving for this possible swap is cutting into the paycheck decently.

i'd say go for it. it would be an awesome build.

Exactly. I want to do it, like I said, because of the possible torque, and the ability to say I did it. plus then i could confuse the shit out of everyone else around here, putting "2.0" stickers on it, if i go for the B16 head, then i could put "Si" badges on it (especially since I am planning to slap on some Si wheels soon) and on top of that, give it a JDM front end and Honda Badges. One unique Teggy.
