Just wondering what people think about iHi Turbos. Are they any good? I've got two and I'm thinking about putting one on my built DA.

There's nothing inherently wrong with them. Apexi built some quality systems based on IHI turbos. The only issues are, they are not inherently popular within the Honda crowd so off the shelf, compatible components aren't as widely available. Of course an improperly sized, top notch turbo won't perform worth a crap when out of it's element. It would obviously depend on what turbo it is, and what your expectations and supporting mods are (would be?).

^ This. The issue is packaging. IHI make some very potent turbo's, in fact some of the newer ones VF48 and VF52 are very very nice. The VF48 is a contender versus the legendary 16G. Most of the nicer IHI turbo's you come across are packaged for Subaru use. But im sure you could pull the CHRA out and put them in a new housing, but given all the work and cost of parts involved you may be better off getting something off the shelf.

What IHI turbo's do you have? This will help decide if its even worth the while.

My B18A1 ls DA has Wiseco pistons and rods, ACL Racing bearings, Brian Crower USDM duration cams, titanium valves/springs/retainers, and high temperature sealant on the valve cover. 9.6 to 1 compression ratio.

The turbos are VJ11 9012.
I wouldnt bother with them then. Those are not very potent at all. They came on Mazdas like the 626. I think the Ford probe might have gotten it too? But either way dont even waste your time/effort on them.

210CFM @ maximum efficiency of 75% a hair under 2.0 pressure ratio......YIKES!

Hello choke line! Iol

Thanks a bunch, I'll probably sell these turbos and get a whole HKS set up. I'm also thinking about putting different pistons in there to lower the compression ratio more, what is the best ratio for a boosted ls?
