Hey everyone

91 integra ---- I take it out for lunch, stop to eat lunch, then go to start it to drive back to work and it wont crank at all.Has shown zero signs of starter issues.Has always started as fast as you can turn the key.
Battery "clicks" as if it is dead as a doornail, but its fully charged.Everything else that uses power still works fine.We even put jumper cables on it and let it go for 15 minutes, and still no crank, just acts like the battery is dead. Also if I try to turn it over for more than a few seconds,I start to smell burning.Something is getting very very hot very quickly.
So im wondering if theres some sort of clutch switch that is bad or out of whack, that tells the car not to crank.

I soldered the main relay last winter,so that all the pins have a nice solid mound of solder,so im not thinking main relay.
Im not sure if it matters, but we got it to pop start so I could get it home.It ran like a gem.Got it home, shut it off,and same problem.Just the battery clicking.

Oh and the clutch was starting to go.Thats the only problem the car had before it died,so im starting there.Just got it home,so havent started poking around yet.Wanted to bounce it off you guys first.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes I'm not fully knowledgeable with DA but with the DC series there are 2

Look on the ground near your pedals for broken plastic pieces. These plastic plug thingys push or release your Clutch safety switches. one ( right above your clutch pedal ) releases with the clutch pushed down. two (located on very top, look hard...) when applying your clutch all the way down, the tab pushes on the second safety switch letting the car know the clutch is applied.

I'm not good at explaining these things but just look very hard and you can find the reason. My plastic piece is broken at the moment as well and I can only reach a pinky to hit the switch in as i turn my key to start my car.

yeah, they have a clutch interlock switch! From what I can remember it was a pain in th a$$ to get to. If you look up under the dash at your clutch pedal you can see the wires for the connector. Pop the connector off and use a piece of wire or paper clip in the harness side connector to jump the connection. WARNING: MAKE SURE YOUR CAR IS OUT OF GEAR BEFORE TRYING TO STARTING. Try to start... if it starts replace the clutch interlock switch, if it don't it's probably the ignition switch.

Hey just wanted to update on the starting issues.

So I looked around for broken pieces and found nothing.Found both rubber pieces in place.Everything seems to be fine on the clutch arm.
Removed the safety switch wires from the upper connection.Placed a paper clip into the harness using a "U" to run it into both openings.(kept it in neutral)Then went to start it and same thing. No crank.

So ordered the ignition switch.Couldnt find one anywhere otherwise.Called O'really back to ask if it was in yet,and they said "looks like it was never ordered".

DOUCHEBAG!!!!!

So went on ebay and bought one.Got it today.Pretty easy to put in,once you get everything out of its way.Went to start it up,and same thing. No crank.

So removed the main relay.Took it in and re-soldered all the pins.Went back out,put it and and same thing. No crank.

Battery has plenty of juice. So what you guys think now?Starter?

I could jump start it and drive it to the garage down the street and see what they come up with, but I just know after they turn it off,and it doesnt start again,im going to be at their mercy.

Thanks for the help

Same thing with mine, but a test light to the starter showed no signal to the starter. Replaced the ignition switch and still nothing. Help? Sorry for stealing your thread bro :p
