Hatch really hard to open and close

Hey guys just picked up a 92 teg and the hatch is really really hard to get open haha, not really sure what it could be but its just gets stuck when I'm trying to open it, it stays open tho and doesn't shut on me, but its just rough and hard to open without using alot of force, any ideas what this could be? I tried lubeing it up but it didn't really help.

Like it opens and stuff but its just hard to open hah, it closes right, and opens when I pull the lever inside the car but just actually lifting the door is whats hard cause it gets hard to keep lifting it

I replaced the hatch on my old DA and had the same problem for a while. If the mounts aren't screwed in perfectly even the struts get real tight. check the angle on your hatch. are all the gaps even on both sides?

or just try to man up.

nah. maybe like its been in an accident as said before. take a look behind your panels for welding or damage.

Thanks but naw it's never been in a accident or nothing, I'm going with the shocks problem, and yeah it does stay open

lol mine does the exact same thing. Its kinda nice that it does stays open instead of slamming shut. I would try unbolting the shocks and see if its easy to move. On my car its the shocks causing the issue.
