Need help getting rid of car! What do I need to do?

My gf crashed her 2000 Ford Focus ZX3 (DOHC) and we need to get rid of it. Can someone help me out on how to get the most money for it? Engine still runs and transmission is still good I believe. Not looking to partout, needs to be taking whole. I live in Goleta / Santa Barbara, Ca. Is there anyone on here wanting to buy the whole car or know of some good junkyards that are willing to pay a good amount for the car? Really need as much as we can get back from it, we are students and need the money. Thank you for your help!

go through insurance... hopefully you had full coverage

according to kelly blue book, in fair condition, its worth $2k, obviously its in bad condition... you'll just have to take the $500 the junkyard will give for it

I think $500 is about the most you'll get unless you part it. Even then, I don't know if you could get your moneys worth out of it, just because it's not really a sought after car. Usually when they're wrecked, they're junked.. because.. well they're just nothing special.

Yea, she bought if for around $2500. Local junkyards are bastards though and really cheap, they were saying $100-$200. Thanks for the help thusfar!

What kinds of things can I remove from the car before I sell it? Id like to take out the bulbs and things like that.

You'll get fucked at a wrecker's, you'll make the most parting out, but that'll take time. Just sell it as a whole starting at $1000. Somebody probably has a car that they need stuff for and they'll pick it up. Best bet IMO. I always pick up parts cars when I find a good deal on them. Buy 'em, strip 'em and resell 'em.
