On my 1990 Integra LS, When I go to start the car i need to press the gas a bunch of times to get it to start so I a thinking fuel pressure? but Have no clue how to go about fixing it.
Also, when in higher gears like fourth or fifth, when the pedal is all the way to the floor (and sometimes not to the floor) It makes a rattling sound in the engine bay now im thinking exhaust leak in the manifold somewhere but dont know how to find the exact location of the noise because I need to be driving to hear it. Lastly, My brakes are mushy as hell, I got a new master cylinder lid thinking it was not holding pressure but now im thinking my brake booster?

What do you think?
Thanks

i have a 90 LS also! do you always have to pump the gas pedal to start? i had this problem a few times but only when it was hot outside...it could be your fuel pump or main fuel relay..also check your distributor cap/rotor. i replaced mine and i dont have that problem anymore.

as for the mushy brakes, try bleeding the brake lines? just a guess. sorry i can't answer the engine rattle sound lol

What happens if you try to start it without pressing the gas? I would suggest bleeding out your brakes. Might just have air in the lines.. As for the rattling, just increase the throttle slowly in neutral.

Good luck.

You might have air in the brake lines due to a leaking master cylinder. Seems that the OEM master cylinders have reached the end of their lifespan lately.

I do have to pump it just to get it started.. And I got the whole distributor replaced. I bled my brakes and the nest day it was mushy again.

Prozon- I just cranks over. and what do you mean increase the throttle in neutral?

If that's the case, I'd guess the MC is gone. I had the same issue a while ago...new MC and brakes are back to proper function.

DA squad.
i had the same problem. id have to give the car gas for it to stay on or it would just start and shut off right away.
i changed the mapsensor and the problem was done.
