Ever since I have gotten my integra I have been trying so hard to learn all I can about integra's/car's in general so I can do some work to mine..

I have come a long way and have managed to install a cat back exhaust and AEM short ram intake (but only with the help of a buddy..)

I am still a complete moron I feel like when it comes to cars! I know absolutely nothing about turbos, superchargers, all that fancy stuff, and I really don't know what my goal is for my 98 RS. I have really been demotivated lately and unsure what the hell to do, and no one supports me! most of my friends are into doing stupid shit (smoking pot, etc...) and I have grown out of that and trying to push myself away from them.. it's just plain stupid. they bash me for wasting so much money on my car and I honestly don't know what to do!

[/end rant]

anyway.. where did you guys learn about what to do to your car and what would you guys suggest I do with my rs? It's a DD and I just don't know what the hell to do with her.

Sorry for my rant. I hope to post a build thread but I have not yet because I do not want to embarrass myself. Wanna know something stupid? I thought it'd be cool to paint my STEELIES white, and then do red trim around it. I did it and painted the lug nuts red and got made fun of so bad it just made me wake up and realize how stupid I am when it comes to cars.. That night I drove the back roads home so no one would see my steelies and just kept my car in the garage and walked to work. I got home and painted them black while still in my work clothes. But I have crappy white spray painted enkei rim's for now to tide me over..

anyway sorry for the long post and any help is appreciated.. thanks.

Who care's what others think about your car. Its YOURS do with which you please. You know what it is? Its a big scene. As an example. If the fast and the furious days came back and everyone had a body kit and i didn't i would be made fun of. Once the fad changes everyone scambles to be part of it.

I just learned by checking recent threads and playing around with stuff.

You sound like your pretty hard on yourself. We're all car guys/girls here, and I don't think you'll catch any flak like that from us. Luckily for you, your in Washington! We've got a nice group on here you should join in some of the chats. Make your car how YOU want it. Don't let anyone else tell you what your doing is stupid or wrong. Everyone has their own opinions on what they like, and you shouldn't care what anyone thinks but you.

I've learned to wrench out of the need for it, I couldn't pay someone to work on my vehicles throughout the years so I have had to do it myself. I have learned a lot from my Dad and Uncle. Anything I need to learn I can usually find on the internet, through forums or random articles. I'm more then willing to help anyone that needs it.

Don't be afraid to search the forums and ask any questions when you need to.

What do you want out of the car? Performance, hard parker, mild daily?
- Not entirely sure to be honest, I want some speed but I know bolt on's don't help out a whole lot with acceleration, but I also want my teg to be reliable since it is my DD! What exactly is a hard parker? :p I just want to eventually be able to take it to the track even though it's a DD and be able to beat a few cars. :)

- I always remember that when people talk s*** about my car but it just really gets to me when people make fun of my car, like it just shoots my confidence down so low and I feel like a looser. I just try to hard to fit in I guess :\

- I am extremely hard on myself and my girlfriend hates that side of me :p But I try my hardest to search for the right stuff and how to do things, growing up I didn't really have anyone around to teach me about much so I kind of just stuck to video games.. and making miniature rivers behind my house with a garden hose when I was young haha. And yeah I check the washington threads frequently in hopes of finding someone from the spokane area.. There does not seem to be anyone and I don't really have anyone to help work on my cars except the one guy that helped with the exhaust and intake (but I have to pay him and he just seems kinda sketchy.. he actually sold my integra to me but he just seems like he lies about some things)

Thanks for the responses :)

Read, read , read, and experiment. When i got my first integra, i cant tell you how many things i took apart just to see how they worked. I also messed alot of things up LOL!! But with the help of a Hanes manual, and some desperation to have a ride to work the next day, I always managed to get it working again. I learned alot along the way.
As for your friends F*** em. You like your car, don't you? I grew up in a dsm town and didn't get alot of honda love. But guess who's car is still running and lookin good. Do what you want. Not what poeple you wont kmow after high school want!!

hey man, going out to meets and talking to the right people is always a good way to meet new car friends that would always be willing to help work on a friends car for the day. its fun for all of us and is just a hobby. why you cant take opinions to heart, its a thing no one will fully see eye to eye no matter how much you build to the masses... with that said i can say from experience do what you like and makes you happy, and do it right the first time. when cutting corners and half assing things is when youll get fed up quick. this wont be an over night thing so taking it step by step is the best and funnest way.

FYI: no matter how nice you're car is and how expensive you're parts are, people will hate. because jealousy is what fuels the haters...

Thanks for the comments.

And actually suspension is my current goal, I just can't seem to get my long term goals right..

My current plans are as follows:
- Security (2 way viper, tilt sensor, motion sensor, back up battery, back up siren, and eventually a gas cut off switch if my buddy pulls through)
- Lowering springs and performance shocks (not sure what brand and how much of a drop :\)
- Lower control arms, lower tie bar, front strut bar, rear strut bar
(I think that's all I can do for suspension)
- 20% tint (not sure if I should tint back windshield or not.. but ill do the 6 inches on the front windshield)
- audio (planning on sinking 1.5k atleast.. :\)

Those are my current plans.. not too much to it I just don't know how I am going to install my suspension parts...

And I know you can learn a lot from the car manuals but I didn't even get a manual with my teggy :\

Oh sweet I'll go pick one up then. Some pics I have on my phone:

First day I got her

8k 55W Hid's and JDM yellow hi beams

Blue rear tow hook and apexi WS2 full cat back exhaust:):)

White spraypainted :\ 17" enkei? rims. Looks okay for now

8-bit

do what now?
Op your story made me feel crappy. Lol do what you feel is right but try not to srew in some piece of metal and calling a strut bar in your car. When it comes to working on the teg I usaually read up on manuals/how-to's/thread or ask my dad. Do let people put you down keep your head up and rock on.:)

jdmjim

nothing from nowhere
haha, when i first got clean i had the cleanest car on the block, what happened now i dont know :( anyway, a nice suspension is always a good start, but for me a good system is a must ;)
