Asshole; What to do... (boost setup)

You guys probably remember seeing my turbo thread a little bit back. If you recall I said that he had told me all the parts were brand name and the turbo and intercooler were TurboXS. Well I went and bought everything from him and when I checked it all out the next day, guess what? Turbo says XSpower. Which is obviously ebay! Intercooler has no markings. Only good parts are the Blitz BOV and the Drag mani.

So, I texted him and he's like "No, you def misunderstood. I said xspower, thats why I was surprised you were so happy with it. TurboXS doesn't even make turbos." WHAT THE FUCK. I admit I didn't know that TurboXS didn't make turbos but I knew they were a good brand that sold turbo related parts. I assumed he was telling the truth when he told me. I didn't bother checking it out when I looked at it because I honestly thought I could trust him.

So what do I do? Ask for my money & wheels back? I paid $500 and the wheels to get it all, and I was going to give him the other $200 when he installed it all. I could keep it, afterall it did work on his car, but I obviously would knock mad cash off the price. I just don't feel all that safe running an ebay turbo.

I paid him money expecting certain brands and I didn't recieve them. He's trying to persuade me that knockoff shit works, but I don't care. I didn't pay for knockoff shit! Do I just go for the refund?

honestly... ebay stuff does work. I've actually seen a local guy run ebay stuff, then buy name brand parts (this case was Greddy) when the seals went out and swap it all into an ebay housing and it ran perfectly fine. you wont have the longevity of name brand stuff from ebay stuff, but it will work...

it all depends how much money was in the air here, but honestly you made the deal final... it kinda sounds like a done deal

Yeah, I mean he just replaced the seals on the turbo and he was running it for a while before I bought it. He told me turboxs, I know it.

The white wheels. Yes, I understand ebay stuff works man. But thats not the point, I didn't give him the wheels and money for the ebay parts, I gave him the money for what I was told was TurboXS. It wasn't, therefore I should at least get something back.

I feel the whole part of not really checking out what you have before you buy.... BUT in this day and age, with the economy the way it is.... why try and get over on somebody? Its happened to me kinda recently and got me pretty heated. Im ready to lock and load.... but I feel that by me doin some negative things to somebody who got me will just come back around in some other negative way. Lesson learned at the cost of $500 smh...
I feel that less than 24hrs later, if OP told the seller he wasnt happy with paying so much for what he got.... the seller should be willing to work it out or give up the money. $$$ is too tight out there to just keep telling people tough shyt I already got your money in hand.

look at it this way, your lucky you only lost $500, my buddy bought a salvage gsr, invested 10,000 to a guy to install turbo/jdm front/rims/interior/paint, well long story short he never got the car back. guy took $ and ran. still looking for him, its turned into felony. Now thats a hard lesson to learn. Im sure all of us have a story where someone buying or selling parts screwed us over.

Wow! 10Gs...yeah I would be on an all out hunt for that guy!!! I would be in the police dept. daily to help or push them on that matter. We all do have some sort of story to tell....and it adds up quick. Im just tired to see so much of it going on still.

I didn't see it in an ad, I had been talking to him every couple of days face to face. I used to chill with him. I honestly thought I knew him well enough to not have to really check. Obviously now he dosen't give a shit about other people.


Regardless, I talked to him today and told him I'm not giving him the rest of the money, I just want the rest of the parts and I'll install myself. He got frustrated and acted like I was being the ass but agreed to give me the rest on wednesday. I'll update then.

I know its too late, but never give money to someone before they even do anything.. unless its for parts.. then you should supply yourself then pass it over to get worked on
