Help with the speed!

So basically when driving on the freeway my 93 integra gs will not go past 80mph. No matter how much I step on the gas it will start shaking back and fourth and will not go past 80. Does anybody have an idea on what could be causing this?

Bad alignment, CV axles, ball joints going out.

Sounds like the ignitor or rotor in the distributor. Does she fire right up or sometimes take a second to start?

I might have a misfire. Cause sometimes it SUCKS at accelerating.
What mightni experience during a misfire?



It takes about maybe 2 seconds to start. .???

Could be a misfire. Your timing belt could have jumped a tooth.

Could a misfire cause the acceleration to suck? Cause literally I'm always entering the freeway at 50mph .haha
Then itmtakes a while for me to get up to 75 without even mentioning I can't get past 80 no matter what

Absolutely. Youre only running on 3 cylinders. You shouldn't even be driving it with a misfire.
Take it to a shop and run a compression test and ask them to check for a misfire.

A misfire could be caused by a lot of things.
Bad spark plug
Bad spark wire
Dizzy
And so on, etc...

It could even be a bad / clogged catalytic converter.

Could it still be clogged even though it does not smell like rotten eggs and all the etc. Symptoms?

If you enter the highway and get the car up to 70mph or what not by the time you stopped your vehicle, you should be able to look at your catalytic converter and it'd most likely be red from the heat if its clogged. Have someone rev your car while you are behind the exhaust to see if you have much exhaust gas coming out at the tail pipe tip.

Otherwise, the other stuff you state sounds like its a misfire/distributor or like guiltyxxspark said... could be your timing belt jumped a tooth and is robbing you of your power.

i know around here that tires plus does this free inspection an will tell you whats wrong with your car even if you dont intend on having them fix it. id give that a try if yall have that where youre from.
