has anybody had the rear quarters replaced. My car is at a point that i can start fixing the body, and improving the exterior. i just dont want to drive it to the body shop and come back with a 10k estimate to get all the rust fixed. tell me about your experiences, good bad or indifferent. if you live in the york harrisburg carlisle pa areas and have a good recomendation, that would be helpful and appreciated.

Cali has no issues with rust. butif its a pure projet car, read how to do it yourself. there is no way to learn it if you don't try it.

idk where but if you look spme guy found a shop who will make patches for the rust just above your wheel well and they are $50... I THINK

i am one of those people who cant do budy work. my last two attempts ended in the waviest hood and a door that fell off at 75mph. the only thing i am good at is drilling holes for hoodpins in carbon fiber.

What exactly needs to be done? The rusted quarter panel will take a bit to fix and I do not recommend trying that on your own if you want a proper repair. You have to cut off the quarter panel or get the quarter panel from a rustless car, cut off your rusty quarter panel and weld it onto your car... Sand down the weld spots til smooth and fill with a very light coat of body filler to remove any creases. Then primer over it and paint... It's alot of work and I hated doing it.

You might want to just look into a cheap, rust free, shell somewhere. It'll probably be cheaper than the body work.

This... That sounds like an awful alot of work for it, It might even come out way more then the cars value.

Guaranty it will cost more than just getting a clean shell. Body work around here isn't cheap, and people that are good at it are hard to find, if you want it to look perfect that is. Not sure about where you live, but around here that's the case. Book value on a 2nd gen tops out at ~$1500, that will easily cost you $1000+ for quality work from a shop. A clean shell shouldn't be any more than $500, and that's shooting high for a bare shell.
