Changing head what's best for HP?

Im rebuilding my '92 B18A1 and would like to run the best option I have for a head right away instead of opening closing and re-opening of the head. What is the best head to run for more HP. I already have exhuast, header, cold air intake, Mod-ed ECU, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, droped the A/C out ( and thinking about powersteering, how much does that give?) just trying to do a budget car with decent HP. Thanks

well i'm not sure if i would go with a b20 head cause think about it a stock b20 standard size is 84mm right so that's 3mm size bigger than the 81mm ls block you"ll go through more head gaskets than you can shake a stick at and you don't want that type of headache so keep your stock head and just pnp it and that would up the c.f.m and as far as the block goes you can either bore it and put bigger pistons in or you can keep the same bore and just put the b16 p30 pistons in which would boost your compression up and that will be power you will able to notice plus you can use the same crank and rods if you wanted to either way its a win win situation for you but since you want to budget build which i'm all for it i would go with the b16 p30 pistons pnp head with gasket matching and a upgraded valve train along with cams and cam gears and that should be good for now and if it still don't satisfy your hunger then throw in some boost well hope that tad bit of info helps you out a bit if you have any questions on other stuff don't hesitate to hit me up

PNP and gasket matching would just be a waste of money... Gasket matching should only be used on full out drag cars... There are things about flow of air in the head and valves I dont want to go into detail cause its alot to type but you have to step it

I don't know where you got this idea from but it isn't the case. The head is a direct bolt up and it wont cause you to blow head gaskets.

oh ok i got ya well i thought it wont fit due to the b20 being bigger than the b18 but i guess i was wrong so which head gasket would you use the one from a b18 or the b20

HAHAHA I think LS/VTEC mean its going to have a Vtec head, but im just messing with you man.. Eather get a B1 head or B20
What? I know what it means. That doesnt mean the OP knows. I was pointing out that in order to go with an LS/VTEC build (vice an all motor LS) he would need a VTEC head. And you dont need to say "B1 head or B20," unless you dictate that he uses the head on his car now, or purchase a very specific (P8R) head, then you arent really giving him much info. The majority of non-vtec heads are P75 or PR4's, which have the same casting.

Im running an 84mm head on an 82mm block. My headgasket is fine. You need to use an 84mm head gasket. It will hinder flow a bit, as you have that overlap when the piston is at TDC.

The P8R head is better than the other castings (P75 and PR4) because it has 33mm intake valves. It can move more air than other non-vtec heads.
