Problem solved for 6.5" in the front!

Alright so I just bought these 6.5" speakers from Best Buy. I looked around here first and it seems that 5.25" go in the front and 6.5" go in the back (for the coupe). But I also saw some people making them fit.

Well these speakers just so happened to come with an adapter to mount them into Acura Integras! The stock plastic housing around the speaker comes off and this one takes its place, allowing a 6.5" to fit in the space and have all 8 screws go in. (4 for the housing 4 for the speaker)

Here's some pictures:

If anyone wants those speakers by the way, they sound amazing. They produce a surprising amount of bass. Better than my 6x8 Pioneer set up in my old truck. Tweeter comes through nice and clear too.

I don't even think I need to replace the back speakers (until they blow LOL) But do you have a sub set up? I want a box but I don't want to take up a lot of space.

I had to make a spacer because the window would hit the speaker on the way down. Hopefully that adapter pulls the speaker away from the window enough, or the speaker is a shallow mount.

There is enough room. My friend looked as I was holding it in and he guessed there was about 4 centimeters between the speaker and the window. Its really close though.. but it fits and thats all that matters. I was really happy to see that I didn't rip apart the doors for no reason

Easier, better, cheaper solution? Cut the back out of the stock mounts and mount the mid to it. Should fit most run of the mill true 6.5" speakers, though not larger 6.5"s, and 7"s.

"bigger 6.5s" would be 6.75"

Not exactly. You really need to look at all dimensions of the speaker when looking at purchasing them. Some manufactures will classify as a speaker as a "6.5'''' when it's overall diameter(including mounting area) is within 6.5''. Others do it based off the diameter of the cone's surface diameter. My current mids are 180mm total diameter(a little over 7'') and needed much metal removed from the door, much plastic remover from the door panel, some door skin abuse with a hammer, and two 1/2'' mdf mounting rings(totaling ~1'') to bring the mid away from the door panel enough to clear the glass.

I thought that the front speakers on '94 to '97 were 5.25" because I did a lot of looking around before buying these and most of them were 5.25" in the front, 6.5" in the back. It is a true 6.5" though, because its larger than the 5.25" it replaced.

yeah im not messing with the rears, just putting 6.5's with a tweeter on each door and some custom fiber glass kick panels with the same thing in each

do i have a sub set up? nah not really into audio pshhhh jk yeah i had a small set up in the teg for a wk and took it out i have "alittle" something planned for this summer check out my build thread for more info :) (link in my sig)

as far as space id stick to a small sub with a small box so it doesnt take up too much room. with mine i knew i was gonna loose all my hatch and rear seat space.
