OK so i completely rebuilt my b18a1 in my 92 integra, starts right up, but sound like it has bad spark knock. all the motor work is good. i took my time so i know its good from a mechanical spec, timing marks are dead on . i though it was improper rocker arm adjustment so i readjusted and its still the same.. it gets worse when i unplug a vacuum line or try to move the distributor around to adjust timing and gets louder when i give it gas. would bad gas cause this ? the gas has sat since last September. also can a larger cylinder bore .020 over effect it? any information would be beneficial. thanks for your time

You already did this. He just called it something different.

Did you check the rod and main bearing clearances when you installed them? Did you lube the journals before putting the crank and rods on?

How bad is the knocking? You say "spark knock," but do you actually mean a ticking sound or rod knock? When I hear spark knock, I think detonation and pinging.

ok i just pulled my oil pan and discovered the number 2 rob bearing was going out. i dont understand why. i checked my clearances and used plenty of lubrication. how exaclty does the oil get to this bearing.? any suggestions why it went. i had the same problem before this rebuild. and its the only bearing that went.

did you ever get the crank turned? or machined to make sure everything was back to proper specs?

Theres a small pinhole in the rod that feeds the bearing. You put the motor together I assume? Make sure that pin hole is free and clear. Some people bevel the edge and widen it some to allow for more lubrication.

Did you lube between the bearing and the main, and also between the bearing and the crank?
Did you do something similar with the rod, lubing between the rod and bearing, then between the rod and crank?

If you did, thats probably what the issue was. You arent supposed to lube the backside of the bearing. It will reduce the clearance and probably cause the motor to fail. If you didnt do that, try providing more information on the build, who did it, what the clearances were when you plastigauged, any aftermarket parts, what you re-used, etc.

the rods where in spec. and as for the crank i only checked in one spot on each journal because it was new.
