You should of waited for that little bitch to get into your garage then got a bat or some shit like that and hit him at least in the legs to get him down then called the police. Do you got a piece? I don't know if you live in a high crime area or not but you really should invest in a small hand gun (legally of course). I live in a big third world city where hondas are stolen regularly. I got my ccw though and a .38 special. I haven't had to pull it on anyone yet but when the day comes to protect my property, family, or life I won't hesitate.

Better off just breaking their knees - what's the worst charge you can get for that? Assault? if they touched your property before that you're probably safe, depending on where you live - and it leaves them with a nice limp so that they can't easily run up to your car and jack it. That and they'll remember their broken knees and a nice stay in physiotherapy every time they look at a car that way again.

My cousin actually did this. this dude broke into his mercedes, he was crouched down and half of him was leaning in the car so my cousin comes sneaking behind hits him a couple times with the bat in his spine, shoulder, by now hes out of the car so then he breaks his hand by taking his hand and slams his door into it! and basically owns the shit out of the guy. cop comes arrests the robber. robber sues for getting his ass beat, judge laughs in his face, sends him to jail, and calls it a day. -that is how you handle things hahaI would have grabbed a bat and started beating away.
I would have also waited until they got into the garage to get a burglary charge on their ass.
