How do you choose a deck?

Prozon

Well that's just it.

I'm curious... how do you choose a deck? PRICE?
I want to upgrade my "Walmart" deck to something better, but the only thing I could really think of that would determine anything would be the price and brand. (But that wouldn't make much sense..)

At best buy the deck's all said "45w" "50w" or "52w" I believe. All x4 if I recall.
So should I figure out what my speakers find out and try to find a deck that puts out that much?

Just some information on the topic would be fantastic...
Thanks. :)

Screw the topic just buy mine. Ill give you a good deal ;).
Lol! I go by my budget and of course by the features that I would like it to have. For example, my deck is a sony with a subwoofer control cause I have a sub. I aslso bought it so it would be fully compatible withe my iphone/ipod and it plays through the usb cord aqnd charges it also which I love about it.

ya I look for looks, features, and outputs. Also some of the EQ settings are nice to have so if you can find a 5band eq that will take you places :)

figure what you want your system to do, and how you want it to sound.....then research alll the components needed.
also look at the decks RMS wattage rating(per channel) it might say 40w per ch x4 but only really put out 17w x4 RMS. when you see the 40 or 52 watts x4ch... thats max wattage. NOT the constant power that is being put out. You do get what you pay for with these electronics. Some numbers may look good up front...but look at all the specs.

IMO Pioneer makes the best Heads out there, granted they can run a bit pricier. i have one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-DEH-P5000UB-Dash-iTunes-Receiver/dp/B0011MRCT8 and it is absolutly amazing. has every feature you could want, plus the settings and options allow you to adjust nearly everything to fit your car. The modern version of this headunit comes with bluetooth too, and is also very nice (my dad has it)
but honestly speaking, the sony one you were looking at looks pretty good to me. All just depends on what you want out of it and how much you are willing to spend.
