Going through with the swap, Suggetions?

Ight guys so I have decided to go through with the auto to manual swap on my 2000 LS.

I've done all kinds of research and all that good stuff, and YES i do know that I should just sell my car and get a manual, so if thats what you have to say then stay off my thread.

I am thinking it is going to be a fun summer project which is why I am doing it. I enjoy working on my car so selling it is the easy way out.

Basically I am looking for any suggestions about this swap and I want to hear some stories from people who have done it. The easiest/fastests way, things to look out for, places to get the parts for cheap, etc...
Preferably just post on the thread not trying to have my inbox blow up. Thanks

Drop the motor out the bottom of the car, swap the tranny with the manual one, cut a whole for the clutch pedal, install the clutch res and bleeding system, swap the auto shifter for a manual one, then in 4 years when you're all done, enjoy driving your car around.

I'm not going to tell you to just buy a manual because I believe a lesson learned the hard way is the only way to learn.

Post updates though. If you can pull this off, it would help a lot of people in the future that have the same plans.

You make it seem like it is completely IMPOSSIBLE to make the swap. There are people who have done it before.

Doubt that there is going to be any Hard lesson learned. Try and think positive for once in your life. Didnt post this thread for people to try and talk me out of it, or tell me that it is gonna be hard. Posted for the support of people who actually like to work on their own cars and do things that not many others have done before.

Good luck with the swap! there is alot of stuff needed it usually helps if you just get everything off a manual car at a junkyard that way everything bolts right in perfect. the only part I would be worried about is cutting a whole in your firewall other wise its just time and patience to complete the task

I'm not trying to talk you out of it nor did I say it's impossible... did you not read what I wrote? Please do the swap. Working on cars is fun. Just be prepared for a lot of work. Are you saying I don't work on my own car? Because that would entertain me considering a shop has never seen my car since I got it. Just saying.

Good luck with the swap. Dropping the motor and transmission out the bottom sounds hard though lol.
If you've got a way to lift the car it works though lol.

Well if I misunderstood I apologize. And thank you. I found a guy in my area who says he has done the swap 10 times and he also has done it to the car he currently drives. So i think i will be fine if he guides me. I will try and post something in the "How to" forum once I do it to help others like me .

Lol, it sounds like a lot of work. Not something I would do unless I was really attached to the car..
