Damn guys. Way to lowball! Between 1-3k the bluebook is useless now because you can't find anymore clean ones. You're going to spend more just restoring another one. I agree 3k is too much, but I think $2500 would still be reasonable.
Think about it this way. If you can turn around and sell it for the same price you buy it for. It's a reasonable deal.
Blue book doesn't mean shit anymore.
If I had bought my GSR Blue Book, it would have been around 2k.
Blue Book is still useful as a bargaining tool. Showing someone a KBB value of their car $1500 lower than their asking price will usually get them to work with you. It can easily start price negotiations.
You have to start a lot lower than you want to pay theses days as people with no sense of the actual worth of the cars lowball like hell. This causes the seller to price it much higher than they're actually looking to get. That's why I suggested $1900 as the start point and $2300 as the max price to pay. It may look be difficult to find a clean DA these days, but they aren't that hard to find.
I just don't see paying more than $2500 for any DA, no matter how clean.
In the end it comes down to what the car is worth to you, and what you're willing to pay for it. Those numbers are different for everyone.
