Steering Column is Tilted?!

That bracket on top appears to be bent. It would have helped if you had taken a pic from the angle I described. From the underside facing up. Oh well... reading comprehension...

Could be as simple as one of the nuts missing. The studs are up there and you slide the column on them and tighten two nuts.

Oh shoot. Sorry suspendedhatch! I guess I overlooked your tip! I will definitely take pictures of the underside tomorrow after class. My fault

Let me know if these pictures aren't good enough to determine the problem. Also, in photo #4, I noticed that there is a port left open and nothing is plugged into it. Is something supposed to be there? Thanks!

I really want to help you now that I bitched you out but I just can't see clearly what the problem is. It's very difficult to take pictures there. I've tried it. If I was there in person...

Okay looking back through all the pictures and your description it sounds like it's not tilted as in up/down but that it's rotated to the right as in the first set of pics. And that's the only problem aside from the car wandering to the side which would be due to alignment or bad tires. You can check the tires by swapping the left and right.

Does the steering wheel lock when you turn it with the key out? If not, then your key cylinder isn't inserted properly. It will have to be lined up and tightened down until it clicks into place. It's been a while since I've been in there but I think you will be able to rotate the whole combo switch assembly and housing along with the key cylinder.

Good luck and if you can't figure it out, remember that's what mechanics are for!

That was completely unnecessary. You didn't bitch me out. Since you were going to take time to help me fix my problem, I went out and took time to take pictures. That's all there is to it. Aside from that, yes, the steering wheel does lock with when the key is out.

You can always look on craigslist. I think the steering column would be too expensive to ship, due to it's weight.

yeah sadly i have a steering column for sale on craigslist right now but im in mn  so its the whole column thats bent? you could always take it out unbend the mounting brackets and put them back in. if its the ignition thats sideways you can always unbolt it by grinding slits in the top of the weird bolts they used an use a flathead screw driver to back them out. hope this helps a little if any lol

Oh haha I failed. Thanks for correcting me mirrorimg.

I'm just not going to bother with it right now. Too many things going on with my car that's quite annoying lol. But I will definitely take your advice once everything settles, thanks rex!
