Best Engine parts cleaner?

I have my head off my b18b1, with the pistons out as well to replace the bearings and rings, anybody know of any good soaking techniqes or which cleaners i can use to get all this junk off? trying to make these things sqweeky clean. any ideas will be better then mine lol thanks

i find that basic $2 degreaser cans do the job great on the outside


Raise the piston in question until it is TDC
Pour some alcohol on the piston and let it soak for a few minutes
Gently rub the top of the piston with a 400 grit sandpaper, wet in alcohol
Clean up with a rag wet in alcohol
Repeat as needed

Gasket remover works awesome on carbon deposit areas like pistons that have a lot on them. Just be careful with it because it is potent to skin somewhat, and clean the parts off good after with brake clean or something else after.

i only used about 10 cans on motor :suprise: seafoam also works wonders i hear, but for 10 dollars a can...

If you have the head off and the pistons out take them to a machine shop and get them hot tanked.
