It didn't turn on the screen so you went straight to the motherboard? There's a lot more than that to trouble shoot, yea a mother board could be it, could be the graphics chip, a failed screen.
I have been in the troubleshooting field for many years now. I do support for Hospitals all over the world fixing their computers. I didn't put all the things I've tried as there is no point. I obviously did more steps then just try and turn on my laptop. It's not a big deal though as even if I was wasting time, it's my time I'm wasting. Not anyone else's.

This thread wasn't one asking for help, it was just in fun posting a video of me taking apart a laptop for the first time.

Quite? Or quit?
Its hard to type and use proper grammer while im posting from my phone.
I meant "quite"

I was pointing out that you wrote quite the run-on sentence, not telling you to quit writing one. I wouldn't be bossy like that :)

If you want to function in any computer intensive field but a visual design or art field that dual boot is nothing but errors. I have friends that constantly have issues with excel and Solidworks. Id never want a mac.

I run 3ds max and do my Java/C++ coding in xp and I do all my texturing, graphic design, web design, and video editing in MAC OS. It all works out 8)

HPs are bitchy to take a part. I had to replace the processor on my girlfriends dv5 and it took longer than i thought it would (compared to other laptops ive worked on anyways). Nice video though!

Lol, I just wanted to make sure you weren't going straight to the mobo, huge waste of money if that isn't it. Is this your first laptop take apart? They aren't as bad as people think..it's just the non removable bios that stinks.

Ya, I did some research on this kind of issue, took it to BestBuy, then to FutureShop to see what everyone said it might be. They all said the same thing and all the forums and read0ups said the same thing. The solder on the video card is a crappy kind and cracks, losing the connection. The fix is hilarious, bake it in the oven for 12 minutes at 300 degrees or something (I have the write-up on my other computer). I figured, my laptop hasn't worked in months so if this doesn't fix it, what's the worst that will happen?

Ya, I did a little write up in the description. I've worked on computers so I have some experience there, but I've never even taken RAM out of a laptop before. I didn't have any videos or documents explaining how to take it apart or anything like that, I just jumped in head first.

The true test will be putting it all back together.
