if its for daily, id use the gsr transmission, but have a reputable transmission shop put the 5th gear from your ls transmission into the gsr, it will get you better gas mileage on the highway.

Just put LS final drive into the GSR it will drop the gear ratio down alittle... But gsr if you just want trans with no extra work

Use the GSR trans with your ls 5th gear and a Type R final drive.

i suggest a LS trans for boost
Any paticular reason? Don't tell me "so you can stay in boost longer" either lol. GSR is pretty much the perfect geared transmission from the factory for boosting. An LS 5th is nice, in fact if I could do mine again I would put one in, however I don't do a lot of long distance driving in my car so its not totally nescesary

if you treat it right it will last.
if you have it apart and have the money id replace the synchros as they are the first thing that go out, and once they go out then you start fucking up your gears.

Sierra what happened to your trans? I have seen plenty of stock transmissions take 400+hp and last several years. Like Tam said the synchros are usually the first thing to go once you start getting up into the higer power range. I am hoping my GSR trans holds up at 700whp, I really don't want to drop another 10k into this build just on a damn transmission lol.

How would you "build" a tranny? I'm starting my build now, I was thinking of sourcing a Type R trans because of the LSD..goal is 400 or so at the wheels.

wait wait wait... your putting all this money into your engine to get to 700whp and your not going to spend the money to make your trans able to handle that much power? then why waste your time... having an engine that makes ungodly amounts of power(that aren't usable unless its a dedicated drag car) is worthless if you can't get any power moving you forward

I have 2k in my transmission right now, so please don't act like I have skimped out, I have not skumped out on a single thing. Even 10k dollar transmissions break, so i'll take my chances on a 2k dollar one first and see how that goes.

If I were to fully build one it would have either a PPG or MFactory gear set in it, but since I actually drive my car on the street I don't really want a 1-4th gear dog box transmission. Its not like I am goign to be cruising the streets in kill mode 24/7. 700whp is just a goal that I had set when I began this build after having a few shit talkers pop up online. Most likely it will cruise around town with 450-550whp, which is more then enough.

My transmission build is pretty simple but effiecient.

Built by Mista Bone aka Tranzex aka Transbone (one of the best Honda trans builders around)
97 GSR Transmission
MFactory Helical LSD
MFactory Magnetic Drain Plug
MFactory Differential Bearings
Gear Speed Carbon Coated Synchros
Torco RTF Fluid
New OEM 3/4 Slider (synchrotech FTW)

The goal is 400 but very daily driven. That's why I asked I want to be able to have the trans hold for track days, but be fine for driving to work.
