Would this work as a Sub?

Meh, it's cheap. If you aren't big on audio and just want to hear that thump in the trunk, then it will be fine. If you want high quality audio, this is not the way to go.

Then this will be fine on a budget. If you use ebay, you can pick up better subs at really good prices too. Best Buy carries some of the "higher end" Sony Xplod ones as well, may run you a bit more, but have more bass to them. Sony has come a long long way in the past few years, just still not the best, more of a value brand.

yeah im on a REALLY tight budget for now, so this will have to do :\ maybe in the future i will get a better one after i get a job or something but as of right now i got 80 dollars and thats it. no source of income what so ever lol.

also, would you recommend getting a better radio other than the stock one? is there much of a difference or would the stock one be fine? i already installed 4 new aftermarket speakers..

AND, if you know of one around the same price but better, then link me! i dont really know what a good sub would be.

You can't afford high end stuff, but I expect someone else to jump in here and start yelling alpine..

What is your total budget for this? Do you have an amp? Is the car wired for a sub/amp?

You probably shouldn't just jump into buying a sub. Your going to need a box and an amp to go with it. You might be able to find some good package deals on eBay. I just spent $200 or so on my subs and amp, and they're nothing fancy.

no amp= no thump in trunk bro...
it would have been better to source some used system stuff from guys around your area. $80 could have gotten something off with some good negotiating.

for an amp, sub and wiring i would alow a minimum of $300, anything below that will be CRAP... no point in even getting a sub when you hear it hit peak on every beat, please please please please trust me on that one, you will only be disappointed

$120 subs. $90 amp. $40-60 on the box.
It's a good set up for my first set of subs. I like the added seat massage function of the subs. :)
