I have a 93 DA integra that i recently did a swap on, and i purchased a tranny but im not sure if its a b16 tranny or not the guy said it is a b16 jdm tranny, i am currently running a b16a motor which is a jdm.....i wondering am i really running a b16 tranny because the casing says YS1 on it which is a ls tranny if im not mistaken...also my speedometer doesnt work yet because i need a cable but i did an 80 mph roll with my friend with an EF with ls swap and my tach read around 4300...i know gsr/ls revs 4000 and b16 revs 4500....so my question is wtf do i have???the sticker reads j1 but the ys1 is throwing me off im thinking maybe he couldve changed the sticker...can anyone help out?

I am quite intimately familiar with trying to figure this out, lol, I just had a similiar problem. Judging from the shifting I would tend to believe you have a J1 transmission, unless you have a GSR YS1, but even those aren't really usually that high in RPM in that range. J1 feel really short and are B16 transmissions. If it was a LS YS1, you would be on the freeway cruising around maybe 3200 rpm or something like that, they have really long gears. Unfortuantely a YS1 you can't really distinguish from the label, etc because they are labeled basically the same, you can only judge from the gearing and how it feels. You could also have a LS that someone changed the gearing in which isn't uncommon. Hard to say for sure, but definitely sounds like it is not a stock LS transmission from the gearing of it. Hope this helps, if I can help further feel free to ask any questions, I have been looking into this a lot lately with the cable transmissions.

well i had my hopes down thinking that it might be an ls and that i got fuked but i was watching a youtube video with some1 with a b16 with an ls tranny and he reached 100 on 3rd gear...my speedometer doesnt work but i dont think im hitting 100 at the end of 3rd... do you know the speeds the each gear should hit at 8000rpm?

I guess I could try and find out sometime once I put my J1 transmission I just got in, but off-hand, no I am not really sure. In 5th I would imagine you would be around 110, maybe 75-80 or something like that in 4th. And I don't think you want to be doing what that guy did going 100 in third, his transmission isn't destined for a long life I would suspect, that would make more sense with an LS though, because of the longer gears. I would try to figure out your speedo issue and then that would probably help figure this out a lot faster.

I had a b16a with an ls tranny, I shifted into 2nd at 40mph and it was on the edge of starting to crack vtec, 45 was in tec, so on a good educated guess, if you can crack vtec before 40 in 2nd, you probably have the tranny you desire, have a friend drive next to you for a speed reference, also, in my ls, 75mph registers at about 3750-3850rpms, hope this helps, if you need further speed references for ls speeds per gear per rpm just let me know, I don't mind getting rev happy with mine

You didn't get fucked. You have a JDM YS1 trans. It was offered for the 92-93 XSi's. You may or may not have LSD though, that was optional.
I can send you the gear ratios if you want, but they are exactly the same as the USDM GSR cable trans.
And 4300rpms at 80 sounds about right.

Thankxz you guy you were all very helpful...the ppl at honda tech are sum muthaFukaz....but yep its a b16...i was driving this morning and i watched when i shifted how the rpm dropped...i remember the ls dropping alot more....now about the lsd...i know they have a stamp on the but considering that the tranny is already in the car, how will i be able to tell if i have it or not?

If you have the axle out, look to see if there is a pin across the hole left by the axle's absence. If so, non-lsd. No pin is LSD.
Some will say just do a burn out and see if both wheels turn over, but I wouldn't. You run the risk of breaking things doing that.
