My last job messed up my taxes, no giant return for me =[ Looking forward to your continued build though!
Next big thing is to be the exhaust, but until I get a few more documents in, I wont be able to file and therefore wont have the money I need for the upcoming modifications.
So since I cant buy the big pieces now (welder) I am collecting the smaller things. I ordered a 4" flex pipe, and will probably order a couple flanges come my next pay check. I dont think the fiberglass packing in the muffler is to blame, rather the excessive carbon buildup inside. Lost my memory card, so I dont have pictures at the moment.
What I think is happening is that the perforated tube in the muffler, since its straight through, is getting blocked and the exhaust gasses cannot pass throughout the muffler dampening the sound. I picked up a toilet bowl brush like this one:
I plan on either cutting most of the handle off and using my drain snake to push it all the way through, or taking the muffler off and cleaning one side then the other. Not quite sure yet, but some how I need to make it longer than it is. I will use a shop vac to suck out any loose carbon/particles.
I did scrape some carbon out, and was able to light it on fire. It was just after I had driven home from work, so Im sure the fuel vapors helped out. Will be sure to get a picture of that!
