14" oem mugen rims dont fit?

My buddy has a 1st gen LSS and he just got some old school 14" mugen wheels. They bolt right up to the wheel 4x100, but they scrape really really loud. It's the metal plate thing behind the rotors that is a circle in a pretty large diameter. Can we modify that or bend it to avoid contact?

Theyre some rare ass mesh looking Mugen rims that came off of civics I think
