HVAC Controls

Hey guys,

Just wondering if the HVAC controls are supposed to be lit up with the headlights turned on? Mine aren't.

Also, my sidemarkers turn on when I have the key on. Is that normal? I feel like it wasn't like that a day ago haha.

Thanks!

Climate controls should be lit up when your headlights are on, idk about side markers..

Ok that's what i figured, how do you remove the hvac controls? Maybe it's easier than it looks haha

Ok I figured out the sidemarker problem. Apparently when I was trying to diagnose the stupid radio issue I forgot to unplug the Red/Black wire in the radio harness that I spliced in with power. That was causing my markers to stay on. It has something to do with illumination on the factory radio lol.

Future reference, don't wire in the red/black wire into anything other than illum wires.

ANy word on how to take the hvac controller out?

I believe the buttons are supposed to light up, mine don't either, planning to take it apart while I'm on vacation next week.

What year car do you have?

The climate control (what you are referring to as HVAC) is removed by pulling out the Hazard and Rear defrost buttons, unscrewing the two screws behind them, then disconnecting the cable the connects the climate control to the air box. This line can be found under the passenger side kick panel. It will be held in with a metal clip, and the end will hooked onto the valve on the airbox.

You will see it when you stick your head under there. This in on a 94-01 integra, but the process is probably similar for a 90-93.

Hmm, when I had to clean the rats nest out of my blower motor (which was way easier than everyone told me lol), I saw the line running from the hvac controller but it was connected to the air distribution box. I'll look and see if I can get to the screws behind the switches.

It's a 91 fwiw.

Also, I think I effed my constant power to the radio (blue white). Is it in the same circuit as the dashclock?

Thanks!

The radio and clock are fed by the same fuse, so yes they are on the same circuit (in a 94+ at least). The climate control may be a bit different, but thats how it is in 94+ models. You may be able to find some write-ups or more detailed instructions by getting a manual off of HondaHookups.com, or by searching around on G2IC.com

Hmm. I figured as much. I took a look at my wiring manual I found online (it was also at hondahookup). They're on the same circuit for my year as well. Whats odd is I'm almost 95% positive its the BLU/WHT wire. The clock has the symptom now where it's BARELY visible, but if you press the cover in (I belive this is a quick bright feature to see the clock), itlights up solid. Let go, it returns back to almost none visible. So I'm not sure if it's the ground. I'm thinking The wire might be frayed or I might have tugged too hard somewhere and ripped the wire in the harness to almost broken, causing it to barely have any voltage signal.

If I read correctly, the power came straight off the underdash fuse panel. then just gets loomed inside the dash. I wish the clock wasn't on the same circuit, I could just easily run a new wire up there. Time to tear it all apart now. AFTER I dmm the wire to see where it losses power lol.

Any input guys? Right or wrong?
