Radio Installation Kit?

I ordered a radio, and it came with a free Scosch installation kit. The kit says it fits "1990-UP (2006) Honda/Acura", but it was just a little to wide for my 1990. The instructions literally said to just screw in the support bracket and slide in the kit until it snaps.

Well, the top prongs are to short to snap in, and the ones on the left and right seem to be in the right spot, but the whole thing is to wide to even go in.

So, can anyone point me in the right direction for one that actually fits my 1990? It's just a 1 din radio. I hooked everything up, got everything wired, but I just need the kit to put it in and this "factory fit guaranteed" one doesn't fit, lol. I have trouble finding a good one on every car I've put one in.

Your referring to the dash kit right?

I just go to Walmart to buy them. They usually have everything in the audio section. They've fit for every vehicle I've put them in, except my blazers stuck out a little bit. (At least it fit though..)

Double post ftl. haha, but if you're just trying to get it in there, walmart or bestubuy will have the kits. Scosche usually fits perfectly, so you can call them and ask them to exchange the one you have for another one that will fit, which is my recommendation.

You posted before I could remove it. You would be surprised how often I remove my double posts lol. The only time I leave them is when it's really really slow and I don't want to sit for an hour trying to load the delete button. :p

An install kit is one thing I don't mind buying from Walmart. Like I said I always have good luck with them. Right now my radio isn't even secured in my Integra. It has the install kit's trim, but if you pull on the radio it will come out. Easier to steal I guess lol.

Haha, I know, you have dial up somehow..? And honestly, scosche is the one I use when I do my installs, they work well and never have issues. My radio is currently sitting in the dash, no trim/dash kit in, if I brake hard, it'll fly out and hit me lol, this one's a single din, and im looking to buy a double din kenwood in a few months so I'm too cheap too buy another install kit at that point lol. Broke ftl =[

Yeah, the dash kit. I actually looked at the picture on the Scosche website of the one I have, and it looks a little different :???: . Same shape, but the prongs are different, so I'm not sure what that's about. I'll go check out Walmart and see what I can find there. I'll have to wait till Saturday though.

Walmart may have it, if not, like I said just call up scoshe, they're super polite and easy to deal with on the phone.

I called them up on my break, and they are sending me one free of charge. They were very polite like you said, awesome company.

Glad to hear it worked out. They're great customer service wise, the tech's etc are never condescending when asking questions of them or anything. It's why I love dealing with them when I do installs. Great company, good products!

Scosche sells many items that are very "universal" - a single item that supposedly goes into many different years/models/manufacture of cars. But what ends up happening is it fits poorly into many cars rather than fitting well into fewer cars. That's why Scosche tends to be half the price of a brand that makes better fitting, more model specific kits like Metra, but as usual, you get what you pay for. Sounds like you got the sh*t end of the stick with your Scosche kit.
Walmart sells Scosche, at least the one near me does. I'm recommending getting a Metra kit, Best Buy sells Metra.

Pick a kit here: metraonline.com

I've never really had problems with the fitment of there stuff. Most manufacturers make standard kits though, all 03 and up altimas are the same, or all 94-01 tegs etc..

Yeah, the HA1563B. Fitting 1990-UP is pretty universal, but it seems like it would fit if it was a little less wide. Although it would still take a little work. Hopefully this one they send me fits. I'm betting it will be exactly the same though.

I'll look into Metra if this doesn't work out.

I think the best way is for u to take a picture to show how much wider it really is. Most of those tabs are extras that u need to trim off. The install book it came with tells u which one to cut off. Make sure u read the section strictly for Integras. The other thing I can think of is maybe u have something in the radio opening preventing u from putting it in all the way. I used to do this for a living, but I'm usually in the car to figure it out.

That's not normal?! Lmao I thought being able to quickly pull out the stereo in an integra is normal. So that means the previous owner installed a single din and in order for me not to easily slide the radio half out, I'll have to buy the double din one?
