My 1991 Acura Integra wont rev past 1500 RPM and is blowing out dry white smoke from the exhaust. Idles fine, but sputters when you give it gas. CEL went on a few times, but now it wont go on.

Changed the fuel filter and the fuel pressure regulator and problem still exists.

Any ideas on what could be going on?

From my past experience with Honda's. My first guess would be that your Throttle Positioning sensor has gone out. Unfortunately you can't just replace the sensor, You have to buy a whole new throttle body. I would not suggest getting a used one. Because the Hondas have a tendency of this happening. I've replaced two before with the same symptom that your having. One good way of seeing if this is the problem. Instead of trying to floor the gas pedal. Try gradually building up RPM's, buy mashing the gas slowly. If that works and it does rev up, Then replace your Throttle Body. I would go to Orielly's. But that's just my personal choice of Auto Part Store.

Let me know if this helps you out or not. Hope it does!

Not true. You can change just the TPS. I did it the other day to a buddies G2.
Follow good Ol' Dr. Charles here and you'll be fine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukPoe5E4Fqg

Yes.. you could change just the TPS, but instead of replacing a hundred something dollar part you could test it first..

Try checking the engine codes.

Ok. Something i was wrong about then obviously.. Sorry.. But, I have a B-18 B1 And I Can't change my tps sensor. Mine has two lock screws on it that don't come out. Had it checked by two other mechanics as well. And we all came up to the same conclusion. Maybe i just have a special B-18..

I doubt the engine is special. Maybe somebody rigged something up, what exactly is a "lock screw" by the way?
You should be able to change it. Kind of odd. Hope it never goes out man lol.

No, your b18 is normal. Go to 6:20 on the video and it's explained.

If i had to give a explanation on what it looks like, The lock screw thing. It looks like a very small pop rivet. And it going out isn't my biggest worry at the moment, Because my engine is locked from the bottom end. Wrist Pin i believe is what cause it. Not exactly sure. Haven't took off the pan to find out. So I'm looking for another engine to replace this one. And I'm going to end up eventually building the locked up engine to put back in my Teg. But the finding another engine isn't going so well.

ok but even if it was the tps, it would through a check engine light, for it being bad
