my car is having this starting problem lately..
when you crank the ignition it doesnt start right away.
it takes awhile then it starts. so i was just wondering
what is the problem. when i press the clutch in and try to
start it, it looks as if i didnt press the clutch in but tried to start it.

have you done a tune up on it. if so try so lucas injector cleaner, you might have bad gas or dirty filter or even dirty injectors

The clutch part threw me off. Are you saying it will attempt to start, but takes awhile.. or it won't do anything when you turn the key for awhile?

May be water in the head. When I had a blown head gasket(my old motor) It would take a few times to start b/c of water in the Pistons. It takes longer for the gas to ignite b/c the spark is trying to ignite the water which obviously doesnt work. Take the radiator cap off before u turn it over. When u finaly do get it to crank up, rev it up immediately to 6000 rpms. If water blows out the radiator....blown head gasket or cracked head. Look into it man.

did you take the head to a machine shop and have it surfaced before you put on the new head gasket and reinstalled the head?

If the head was not torqued correctly or the head was warped you would know, it would build up pressure in the radiator really quickly. Probably even hear it hissing out of the engine somewhere.

I do think that a tune-up would fix the problem though. Change those things and it will probably run 10x better.
