a couple different things come to mind. first have you checked your oil. when that light comes on it usually means that your really low on oil. the next with it flashing it might mean your oil pump is going but im not sure that honda made a sensor that early that would let you know if that was the case but i could be wrong.

It is related to having low Oil Pressure. I would check first your oil, then maybe delve a little deeper into the issue. Some of the guys will post some more valuable info than I can.

If that shit is blinking and you are still driving it then your motor is probably toast.

It signals that the oil pressure has dropped below 5psi, and by then it already too late. I suggest you check your oil and make sure its at the proper level. If it is, it may just be a faulty sensor.

x2. when was the last time you changed your oil. if its from the oil being to low you might as well scrap the block out and get you some new internals. you will have burned up the crank and rods to the point of no return. not to mention every thing else

Here's a thought. Lets stop calling motors toast until we actually know they're toast? Top off the oil and fire it up? If it runs it's obviously not "toast".

it doesnt matter if it still runs. after you have gone that long you have heated up your rods and crank and they now will have a blue tint where they connect together. also its my guess and im pretty sure it will do it. everytime he cranks his car in the morning he will get what i call a pre knock. which is where the rod bearings and crank bearings were neglected of oil that they were needing and have worn down a shit tone. like i said if its not a bad sensor then the motor is shot whether he can drive it or not it is to far gone. it needs rebuilding

Maybe you should read the caveat I tagged on at the end of my message.

im not saying he shouldnt run it. im just saying to be prepared to have to rebuild it soon cause its not going to last that long. i totally agree with you on if you put oil in it and it starts and runs run it.

But just saying if it works, then keep driving doesnt fix the cause of the light coming on in the first place.

The true test is hooking up a manual oil pressure gauge and checking the oil pressure. I would much rather replace that sending unit then to continually think that the light is "ok." I have an electric gauge that lets me monitor it all of the time. It may be overkill, but gives me piece of mind. :)

i agree. thats what im going to do as well. thats the worse thing you can do to a motor is not keeping it full of oil. but like we both said. if its gone this far theres no point in even doing that, the motor is just so far gone i wouldnt even try to salvage it. op have you checked your oil level yet, you havent wrote us and let anyone know wheather you were low or if it was your sensor

What about a oil light tht just stays on and doesn't blink?? I just bought my integra and the light just came on. It was good on oil when I bought it but I had it changed anyways for my personal satisfaction and its still on. It drives good and there's no knocks or strange noise from the motor. Help please. Thanks
