Were you at a stop light when it just stopped? A little bit more information would help.

Testing a coil on the car is pretty easy. No special tools are required. Just remember to be careful, the amount of electricity generated by your ignition system can be dangerous.

If your coil is already off the car, or if you would like a more specific data-driven test, you can bench test your coil. To set up the test, remove one spark plug wire from its plug, then remove the spark plug using a spark plug socket. Next put the spark plug back into the spark plug wire. Be careful not to let anything drop into the empty spark plug hole -- very bad.
Holding the plug wire with insulated pliers, find a spot on the engine that is a good and easily accessible grounding point. Pretty much any exposed metal, including the engine itself, will do.
Holding the spark plug wire with your pliers, touch the threaded portion of the spark plug to the grounding point. Have somebody crank the engine with the key, and look for a bright blue spark to jump across the spark plug gap. If you see a nice, bright spark (clearly visible in daylight) your coil is doing its job.

I <3 Boost
one at a time, take each sparkplug out one at a time and ground it to metal (just the threads of it to anything metal) and have someone crank it and watch for a spark

the spark should be blue, not orange

i had the same thing happen to me. i could turn it over but it wouldnt crank. pull the dizzy out and found that it was to tight to turn with out forcing it with pliers. pull it out and check it out theres only three bolts. i think it was 225.00 with my old one at auto zone

Could be as simple as that. Cars are crazy.
No.

This is testing to make sure there is power coming from the distributor. If theres not, the car wont start. One bad plug will make your car run like shit, on 3 cylinders, but still run.

thats the same thing my car is doin ill let it warm up then take off and it will just turn off while driving and my tach on my rpm gauge would jump up and down all crazy i stiil cant figure out whats wrong with it...then when it shuts off it will not start
