Loss of acceleration.

I recently bought a 91 Integra. I've been driving it for about 5 days so far and today when was driving to the mall it started shaking a little. It is a MT. I noticed that my acceleration doesn't go as fast since the day I bought it. When I got on the freeway, I got to 5th gear and it wouldn't rev up to 3.5RPM and it wouldn't go up 65mph, and I'm already flooring it. Do you guys think I need a new timing belt?

How good is your clutch? Does it have any slippage issues? Timing belt issues wouldnt be a cause for this concern..not very relative to a timing problem.

X2

I've had the same issue before on my last car clutch was slipping but that's not the only thing that would cause it to not go above 3.5k could also be restricted by something are the fuel injectors foul? Have you bought bad gas lately? Fuel filters wont catch everything. Do you have a vacuum leak? these are a few things that could cause a less responsive motor.

hope this helps :thumbs up

We'll the car idles weird. it would go up 1500rpm then drop 900rpm. How would i know if my clutch is slipping? This is my first stick shift car btw. Would having low transmission fluid be one of the problems?

Well if the idle is erratic like that, like mentioned above check for any vaccum leaks. Are you having any CEL? Also check the connections of the sensors in the engine bay. It could be anything! To know if your clutch is slipping, put it in 4th and attempt to take off from a stop. If your cars stalls immediatly, like it should, then your clutch is fine. If it doesnt stall and the rpms rise as you let out the clutch, then your clutch is slipping. There are many other ways to check clutch slippage too. Hope this helps!

Found out what was wrong. It was my spark plug wire. 1 of them was disconnected from the distributor.
