starter problem?

ok so my car has a kill switch, it used to start up right away when i start it up while pushing the switch. but now it would not make a sound after 5 seconds then sometimes it would start right up and other times i will try it for 10mins. like the last time i was about to go home from school and it absoluty would not crank at all!! i heard my fuel pump then i tapped my starter with my crowbar thing in the trunk then it started like 5 seconds later. so im having the thoughts of it being electrical. so my question is would it be the kill switch itself or what? any ideas please? i would like to get this fixed before im stranded somewhere in a really bad area:(

its maybe your kill switch making a short to your ignition and starter take it off and see if that helps
and if you want to keep it place the kill switch somewhere else

Sounds like it could be your starter. If your having doubts about the kill switch, just remove it.

What he said. But yeah if you dont hear a clicking noise when you turn the key. Its the starter. Its either some electrical issue from the kill switch. Or the electrical "connectors" in your starter are bad. Take out the kill switch and see if that fixes it. but if not. Then you either need to DIY with a starter kit which is like 30 bucks i think. And theres a how to on TI i think. or buy a new one for like 125 or so. Good luck.

im having ideas its maybe that but this happens like when i least expect it like this whole week its been starting up fine.installing a new starter sounds like a good idea but i heard its a huge pain to change a starter..and the switch stays lol it helps me sleep better at night its like a night light.

ugh!! it just happened again tonight i turned the key and i heard the starter click once every time i turned the key. i tapped the starter again but no luck, i tried it for over an hour. just as i was disconnecting the vacuum lines and intake to take out the starter and get it tested over at autozone i decided to give it another try and it started right up. i even turned it off and started it back up with out a problem. this is really annoying my plan it ti take out my starter and get it tested first thing tomorrow, also what starter should i buy since i have a b20 or are they all the same?

Sounds to me like the problem is your starter solenoid. This was happening to my DA. The moment it happened, I jumped my starter and she started right up. Try jumping it or take out the solenoid and clean it. I cleaned mine and she has started everytime. Its been 5 months now.
