brake light problems on 92 acura integra ls

I got off work last night around 9:30...i was driving home in my 92 acura integra ls and when i almost get home...my brake lights in the back just came on....I want to unplug my battery and try to do that but i have no tool box on me at the moment! What is the way to fix this guys? can you send me a text at 864-205-3194 and give me some idea's of what the hell to do! I never had this problem before...and my car is off and my lights are still on at the moment!

My first thought as well. That or the plastic plug that depresses the button on the switch has degraded and broken off.
