Aren't those soppose to be welded? I see 2 pieces of piping pressed together? Is that going to be air tight?

Thats how these typically come, but fitment is better in $700+ headers. Theres a reason why you pay more for things like this, you get the quality along with it. Im a cheapo though :)

The seal should be pretty good. I tightened them down pretty far, and the pipe should be entering the narrowed passage sealing the end off. I cant exactly pressure test it, but if it leaks when I put it on (when I install my head) I will find another method to seal it, whether it be welding or something else.

its fine like that believe it or not..

theres exhausts/headers that are put together by springs
Yea, its actually not a bad set-up designed right. You have the male end be the side toward the engine so the air wont be forced in between the slip. Then you have a slight ramp up in diameter on the male end so it will snug up. Add the springs to keep it and place and vola, not a bad deal.

Now thats for a correctly designed one. The one in the photo is a ghetto fab.

weld that shit son! lol!!

looks good doods :thumbs up
i definitely need to get a header for my ride..
x2

I guess that is an option, but I dont know how much some one would charge to do that. I dont think I would be willing to pay $50 or more for it getting welded. I would be fine with some high temp RTV (if that could even withstand the temps lol.)

The packaging was terrible, which resulted in a little bend, but for $170-180, I cant beat it ;)
is that the 2.5 outlet?

Haha crazy beans. I agree, down the road you should get it welded for extra insurance. Looks good though

Oh you must be referring to the aluminum tape, like the stuff used on duct work. I could probably use that, then header wrap it.

In the other pictures, you can see the bracket that holds the header near the oil pan is not welded on. I would have to get it welded in by a shop or something I suppose.

Did a little bit of measuring today.

My new header is short by about 8in to my exhaust piping when the cat is removed. I will need to remove the flange on the cat that currently bolts to my header, and have that welded onto the exhaust pipe once it is extended.

I figure I will ask the shop that Im going to have tune my car to do that fab work and weld it up.

Do they make test pipes that short? I didnt think so... but I cant imagine the weld job would cost more than $80.

Well that would me me sourcing the piping and flanges, and then getting them welded on. Manufacturers of test pipes will state the cars the test pipes fit, because they typicaly replace the cats. I would need to figure out what pipe from what other car matches the length I need.

Too much effort for me.
