So i'm pretty desperate for some quality audio in my car. i have no cash, i'm 16. but, i do have 2 pairs of like home theater speakers. I was going to try to put two of them right on top of my backseats but they're too big and don't fit under the hatchback. So now, i don't know where to put them. Would it be worth it to put them in the trunk? would i be able to hear them? suggestions please...

You would be able to hear them from the trunk problem is powering them properly. What kind of head unit do you have factory or aftermarket. If aftermarket whats the rms and max output on 4 channels

hmmmm. it's aftermarket. you're not really speaking my language lol, but i remember reading the manual that i lost, and it said it could handle up to 8 ohms and these speakers are 8 ohms. was that kind of what you were asking for?

Home threater speakers will sound like crap. You'll have music in your car but not a good sounding system nor a quality sound.

If you put them under in the hatch and you have your cargo cover on, you won't be able to hear anything.

Why don't you double side them on your dashboard...

Way back in the day when I was broke, I had a home subwoofer in my car. It sounded really good because it was in a box made for it, but it was 8 ohms and run by a small amp so it wasn't that loud. But it worked.

most of home speakers are 8 ohm which means you will only get 12 watts of power to them

car stereo is designed and rated for 4 ohm speaker, you will have 22 watts of power with 4 ohm

pull a part in your area
i pulled sone decent speakers from there once ina while and they only charge like 2 bucks for a pair of speakers:)
i got some alpines recently in good condition.

craigslist man
trade them for something you have

alot of new cars come with stock speakers that are great quality, people upgrade and thro the old ones away.
so again.junkyard is your friend when you re on a budget...

if you got about 50 bucks you can definitely get yourself a nice set of speakers
im assuming its your 3rd gen in the icon?

try to hold yourself back from doing ghetto stuff like that
because as we all know temporary grows into permanent.

if you need something DONT patch it up, just wait till you can get it done right...

heres a great component system for 54 bucks it does sound pretty damn good
i compared it to other speakers while we carried this model i personally think it sounds great fro that price.

I remember doing that kind of thing in my younger days. Replacing a blown speaker I just busted open some home speaker and put the speaker in my door and held it in with zip ties. Talk about a quality sound system! It really didn't last long haha. I'm still not running a high-end audio system, but it sounds better than stock, and isn't ghetto like I had before.

I really wouldn't even bother putting a house speaker in your car. Save up some pennies and buy something. Even if it's something cheap, it'll probably be better than a house speaker.

Good luck.
