black out the gauges???

well i wanna black out as much as possible? so i was thinking of pulling my gauge cluster out and spraying it with taillight, tint so when its parked, it looks black, and when you turn it on all the lights just show up, has it been done before? what els do you think should be done? i think i need to put some leds in so its brighter, and idk about driving in the day? idk some ideas plz

i say, just use window tint so you could remove it if you dont like it. i have a feeling it will be hard to see in the day even with the lights on

it would only work if you converted EVERY light in the cluster to led. and that would be a pain in the ass, and even thin, it would be rice IMO

Yea it just doesnt work well unless it was done from the factory. The only way you would pull it off would be with some electroluminescent panels for back lighting (you need these to achieve a bright enough light for daytime driving, normal bulbs wont be bright enough) and clearing then blacking all of the painted parts on the cluster leaving nothing but black.



See how you can still see everything on the cluster if you look closely. What you can see is the clear sections where the light shines through. So to see anything the cluster must always be illuminated when the car is on.

All in all, alot of work and just not worth it. Enjoy what you have.

you guys cant tell me that dose not look good^^^^^^^^

but any ways it was just a thought and yea i think driving in the day will be a bitch, as for hard work, thats how i eat and for fun and something diffrent its worth it. i need to go to the junk yard my radiator just went to hell, so i may pick a gauge cluster and see what i can do wit it,

and why not? ricer would not take the time to do this, and why dose it sound like a bad idea?

ohhh, i thought u meant on the plastic sheild lol, that could be cool , but i would do led's to be positive you can see

I think it would look hella cool if its done right dude... But yeah u would have to get some bright ass LEDs to actually see em

sorry cant tell you or i would have to kill you

idk, but thats the fun part right,
take it apart,
figure out how to get the l.e.d.s on first and working,
spray it/ tint it

i say tint it last so that you can see how dark its going to be in the day.
