i didnt want to bake mine. my oven is for food. not car parts.
i wouldnt want my pizza to taste like wrinkle coat black.. and im sure my wife wouldnt like it either. so heat gun was the way to go.

eh regardless i'd just clean out the oven. cleaning seems to be my 'job' anyways. would you know the heat setting and times for a vc? i'm wanting to re do some vc's i've got.

so post a DIY:thumbs up:thumbs up:thumbs up

**THIS GUY** would be the one to go to on painting vc info.

i know i'll be able to clean it out. i just dont want my entire house smelling of spray paint. and i wouldnt want to clean it after i used it to dry paint. it was easier for me to just use my heat gun.

if i had one or knew of somone who did i'd be all over that. i just don't have a heat gun to my accessibility.

but i was just saying a DIY for the crinkle coat in general is it just the general idea?

aircraft stripper.. washed off.. spray with crinkle finish.. heat?

sand 320 grit, aircraft stripper, wash, wetsand 1000, spray primer, let dry, spray wrinkle (moderate layer), sit for 15 minutes, heavy coat of wrinkle, let dry 1 day depending on thickness of layer.

it takes a long time for wrinkle coat to wrinkle and dry. i didnt have time. thats why i used the heat gun to speed up the wrinkle process.



the end was about 20 minutes with a heat gun going back and fourth.

i just resprayed the lower half of the doors and rear quarter. took me about a week with only an hour or 2 a day.
