you will look for motor upgrades for a b18b1 EXCEPT pistons.

i think the difference is the bore, the crank and t he pistons i believe they have the same rod. But some b20s have a different head and those are the P8R heads. but most have the same head as a b1. crower sells cams for those heads,

Nope, let me clarify a couple things.

Most B20's use either the PR4 or P75 head, which are the heads that came on B18B1's and B18A1's. The P8R head with oversized intake valves only appeared on Orthias, which were a CRV model from another country.

Having said that, if the stamp on your head says "P75" or "PR4," you use everything from a Non-VTEC motor in terms of cams, valves, springs, and retainers. If you have a "P8R" head, you still use a any non-VEC Cams, springs and retainers, but you will need custom intake valves made if you want to upgrade.

For the bottom end, if the stroke is the same as the B18B1 and B18A1 motors, then the rods are the same length, and therefore all non-VTEC B18 rods can be used. The pistons are 84mm stock, and can be bored to a maximum of 84.5mm (Maybe 85mm, not completely positive).

Check out my build thread if you want, I am building my own B18 Non-VTEC motor.

I plan on upgrading exactly what you just put after the old fashioned b20 reinforcement sleeve treatment i know on boosted apps. these puppies heads will crack but i dont plan on boosting, just some reinforcement before i put more power in her

If youre talking about a block guard, I would suggest you dont put one in. It reduces the coolant flow and can create hot spots on your cylinder walls, leading to failure. You can re-sleeve it, but thats probably only necessary if you bore it out further or go with a turbocharged setup.

First half is a complete rebuild, towards the end is where I start collecting my cylinder head components. Havent finished yet.

thanks for clearing up the bottom block stuff for me i thought it had a bigger crank
When I first read one of your posts I though I saw "Most b20's came with the P8R head" which is what my "clarify" was in regards to. After reading it again, it appears as though I misinterpreted what you had posted ;)

Not 100% sure on the block, but I think the only difference is the sleeves and bore.
