HELP!!! Starter Problems...

Ok, so my teg is registered as a '93.

My starter went out and I removed it. It was a Mitsuba SM 402-01. I took it to Auto Zone and told the guy my year and he came back with a '93 starter that looked different from the one I pulled from my car. He then proceeded to pull a '92 then a '91 and they were all different looking in some parts. So, today I went to a different auto parts place and bought a '93 starter but it doesn't fit. The bolt holes don't line up.

The original engine was a 1.8, only the top half was changed to 1.6. Is that the problem? do I need to get a starter for a b16 engine????

Thanks

No you need the B18 starter. You can rebuild yours for less than $20. It's pretty easy. Google integra starter rebuild

Try calling them to see if they still have it.

I was able to get one off of ebay used for $30, but it will take a few days to get. Try going to the honda or acura dealer if you need one. It will be more, but it will also be right and won't take more than a day or two to get.

They also mentioned that 90-91-92-93 all have different starters. Is that true? Doesn't seem right...

The transmissions are different, which impacts the starter.

I believe 90-91 Integra's had cable transmissions, while 92-93 have hydro transmissions. You can also not mix/match manual and auto starters.
