car tune up!

So my dads mechanic said that his gonna charge me $100 for labor plus parts for a tune up.

but this guy mechanic from clist said that his gonna do it for $50 plus labor.

i was wondering if my dads mechanic is asking way too much for a tune up.

how much you guys think is an estimate for a tune up..


parts i need that my dads mechanic i need:
NGK SPARK PLUG, BELDEN SPARK PLUG WIRES, DISTRIBUTOR CAP, ROTOR, PCV, FUEL FILTER

am i missing anything?

all those you could change yourself. i say, give it about an hour or hour and a half if you mess around a lot like i do. id rather change stuff myself so i know what ive changed.

as for spark plugs/wires, ngk would be your best bet.

Paolo you could do it bro xD. You're filipino! it's seriously just a couple nuts and bolts.

buy a simple tool kit

haynes or chiltons repair manual
ratchet
breaker bar
torque wrench
3" extension
12" extension
spark plug socket (with rubber insert)
32mm socket
socket set 8mm-24mm
combination wrench set 8mm-24mm
flat head screw driver in different sizes
phillips head screw driver in different sizes

thats pretty much all my tools and all the tools you need to tear down and rebuild :thumbs up not including the more in-depth stuff. you wont even touch some of the sizes too.

L O L bro!

Spark plugs wires- Pull them off and put the new one on.
Spark plugs - you're going to need a long socket (i forgot the size) and extension, twist left (lefty loosey, righty tightey). pull them out and install the new ones. Make sure you don't cross thread or your fcked! (install them smooth, they should twist with ease)
Distributor cap - s omfg check out what i found!!!!

for the spark plugs, thats where the spark plug socket and 12" extension comes in handy. when putting the new ones in , you should be able to put them in by hand ti'll they're snug. then tighten 1/4 turn with the ratchet.

make sure you dont mix up your spark wires!! :D

mkay so for a tune up all the things i have to do are!

1. change spark plugs with ngk :)
2. get new plug wires
3. remove dizzy and change it
4. fuel filter
5. and im guessing the pvc?

you dont neet to replace the whole dizzy. just the cap and rotor.

you dont need to replace the pcv valve unless needed to pass smog
