So what is your goal with the engine? Is it going to be daily driven?
Of course :)

I like to modify things. Most things I get my hands on, I will. My car is just another hobby I can modify, even if I dont make a ridiculous amount of power. Thats not the end goal.

I want to have a nice strong powerband, with more torque throughout than the VTEC motors. I hope to be able to take this to a track (road course, not so much drag strip) and put it through its paces... eventually.

More than that, a really fun daily driver, and when people ask, its still just an LS.

That's great! I like how you're NOT going the vtec route, its not all about tvec.

What transmission do you have? When you plan on putting it on the track, are you going to swap a GSR or B16 tranny in it? You'll be hating life on the freeways, but it would be sweet since you're going to track the car time to time :)

^ Well put. I would like to do the same. I will be watching your thread
Thanks :)

When I do mess with the transmission, I wont be switching it out. I will instead just switch 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears. Im pretty sure, though I need some clarification, but the first gear differences between the tranny's is negligible. This way I will have a mostly fresh tranny, and have my ls 5th gear. ;)

I actually decided to go with the 403's. I didnt want to have a super lopey idle, or have to have a ~1000rpm idle with the 404's to level it out. I know I wont make as much power as the 404's, (probably 7-8whp less) but I will be much more comfortable cranking it up in the morning and pulling in and out of the lot at the office. I dont want to attract TOO much attention.8)

Keepers installed on the valves by Abacus Racing.

Cam caps, cam seals and OEM cam gears installed temporarily.

I have just ordered my cam gears (Buddy Club) so they should be here sometime next week. I also need to order some bits and pieces for the head (A IM stud, valve cover nuts and gaskets).

I plan on taking a look under my car to see what the previous owner did when he installed the exhaust. I plan on switching my header before the tune. It has some bent in runners that are impacting exhaust flow, and I certainly wont get the power Im looking for with them. I need to determine if my exhaust is welded or if it has a flange on it. I never really bothered looking before...

Here is my expected compression ratio with my engine. 47cc volume in the P8R head, 82mm bore, 3 layer headgasket (Unless the B20 HG are 2 layer?), some light decking and milling (Im not sure where my sheet is with the head info, but I think it was milled .0070, so I added .0030 for the block)

Im actually wanting to go to a track, which is about 4 hours away (VIR). That wont happen until I get everything done and performing well though. If I ever do move/visit Cali with my car, I'll let you guys know and hopefully it will be around a track day.

After the motor, I will replace a couple tires, and then get a helmet (or 2 if I bring a friend/family member), and knock out a couple other odd's and ends.
