I went ahead and finished the porting on my cylinder head. I used a cutting bit to removed a layer of material, as well as the lovely casting mark that runs the length of the port on either side. I decided not to give everything a "mirror" like finish, but smoothed everything out. I did not touch the combustion chamber, nor the exhaust ports.
And this is how she sits now, until my springs, retainers, and cams come in. The springs will come in first, and I will either find some inexpensive spring compressor to install them, or take them to the machine shop to get put in.
