So my DA9 has been having trouble starting lately (as well as a plethora of other problems). It cranks (and cranks and cranks and cranks) but wont fire. On occaision it will fire, start up, then die. I have no idea where to start cause I can't see any obvious issues as of now. The plug wires and spark plugs are good. the battery is good. The distributor cap is good. It has gas (idk how many retards will ask "does it have gas?"). Im at a loss and without a car so please help

I was gonna get an engine temp sensor to try to solve the over heating and was thinking of maybe picking up a new main fuel relay? Any suggetsions???

engine needs 2 things to run, fuel and spark

check for spark and check fuel pressure, then go from there

Do all the above as said....if that doest work. get your ignition coil tested. Also what plugs are you running? and the gap? also have you altered the timing of the motor? have you gone to a gas station that you dont normally go to? have you changed the fuel filter yet? is the fuel pump falty? are you plugwires exposed anywhere? also how does the compression look in all four cylinders? all these questions are legit.......

Thanks for the suggestions. So lets see I have ngk spark plugs and I checked the gap and they're fine. I have gay autolite plug wires but I've tried my friends plug wires and that didn't fix it. The timing is fine. The gas isn't messed up (weird suggestion). Imma get a fuel filter today and maybe the dizzy and the main relay.

About the spark, I get spark sometimes :/ but even when I have spark it doesn't start. So I think its two problems: lack of spark (sometimes) and no fuel somewhere.

So I'm rarely getting a spark, what could I change around the dizzy, or in, excluding the cap and rotor cause I'm pretty sure those are fine

sound like the ignition coil itself could be bad.....as other members replied above. you can test the coil at a Auto Zone or any other aftermarket parts supplies store. When they test it...and if it shows to be good ask them to test it over and over about 4-5 times. This way when its a little warm it will have the same effects as say tring to start it or running IMO. after that it might test bad and if so there is you issue, if not the distributer itself could be bad. Do you have afriend with one you could borrow one from to see if this fixes things?

Im almost positive its the main relay. Look and see if your check engine light is staying lit with the key in the on position. Also when it starts, see if the c/e light is off. If so, you can bet on it being a main relay.
