so i've been looking for an intake that isn't just a shiny pipe that runs down under your bumper. i saw the mugen air box and fell in love...until i saw the price. i've been doing alittle searching and i've found the comptech intake. it uses the oem intake tube and runs to a box like the oem intake but, the box has tubing that runs underneith and the tube pulls in cooler air with the filter still sitting higher up in the engine bay. looks oem but, performs alittle better. this especially pleases me because i've planned on getting the intake duct that sits in the bumper (jdm bumper) and i can run the intake tube to the duct. doe's anyone else have the comptech setup? if so, do you have the comptech filter or are you using the k&n? did you have any noticeable gains with the intake? how does it sound? any answers are appreciated.

you could do what my friend did with his stock intake.
fitted pvc pipe to the bottom of the intake that goes behind the bumper and dropped in a k&n.

Your talking about the Comptech Icebox intake. I have it. I like it because it's quieter than the average intake. Plus because it a hybrid intake, you get the advantages of a SRI and a CAI.

I used it with the stock intake arm for a while.

Then when I heard Comptech went out of business, I wanted to get ahold of one of their SRI's before it was too late. So that's what I have now.

I'm using the Comptech foam filter, because it came with the intake system, so why spend the money on a different filter. K&N is solid, though.

What's wrong with the shiny tube? You don't like the look?

dude that's awesome. thanks. i read through the second link and looked at what everyone did. i'm gonna try and find an oem honda airbox, something alittle larger than the integras, and use 4" piping and run it down and connect it to my cf intake duct. that's awesome. now i'll spend my intake fund money on something else.
