Keep It Clean
Was the caliper even leaking? Spungy brake pedal? Glad you found the problem! I bet you can't wait to fix it lol

I didnt notice the passenger caliper issue until I pulled it off, but the driverside was smelling like burnt pad material. I thought it was coming from the front before, but when I stuck my head around the rear wheel, it pretty much confirmed the problem without me even having to take it off.

The brakes have not really been giving me any issues, but im sure it will certainly make a difference when these guys are fixed.

I love your build thread, always something new just about every week. Sucks that you had to go back and fourth for the pads and now the boot.

I felt like I needed a change :)

It certainly is an active build thread. Unfortunately about half of it is maintenance items that come out of no where. I had another back and forth today. I was about to yell at the tech at Advanced Auto.

Heres my story for the day.

Yesterday, Sunday afternoon, after determining my piston boot was shot, I called AAP to get them to ship some boots from the ware house for pickup the next day. The tech said "No problem, they would be here at 9am."

That was bullshit. I went to get them after work, driving through traffic to the location near my house, about 30 minutes. I get to the store, and apparently there was no order placed. The tech told me that they need payment before they order items (even if its just from there warehouse). I was fuming. The only location, like I found out the other day, was at the store 45 min away, at the other end of the city. It would have been closer just to go straight there from work, and saved me an hour travel time...

Well I went to the place anyways, and got two seal kits. Always nice to have a backup, just in case. I currently have an extra front and rear set :)

After fighting with the boot ever so carefully, as not to tear it, and with quite a few curse words, she settled in nicely.

And now to install it, at 10PM...

I finished up rather quickly, bled the caliper, and took it for a spin. Everything seems well. I also adjusted my alignment again, as I had a bit of positive toe after my last go around. I will touch it up again tomorrow to make sure its as close as I can get it.

Stringing it up like I did on the last page.

Im not willing to spend another $80 on an alignment, considering I have had 4 in the year I have had this car, and each were worthless because I had tie-rod issues (Outer tie rod was bad for one, inner tie rod bad for another, etc). The only worthwhile one was my most recent, and it has since gone out of spec.

So I may as well fiddle with it before I get new tires for the fronts in a month or two.

Drove to work, heard a slight clunking coming from the rear. Went to leave work, after dong some slight diagnostics, and determined my lugs aren't tight on the driver side rear.

To make matters worse, I left my lug wrench and lug key at home, so I'm stuck waiting for a tow :(

I pay for Triple A. I get 200 miles of towing every month or quarter, not sure which. Roadside/towing service is nice when you mess with your car a lot and need to stability of having a tow whenever I need it :)

Well I decided to fab my OEM fans up to my Godspeed radiator. After getting off of work the other day, I pulled out my AC condenser fan from the garage and low and behold, THERE ARE MOUNTING SPOTS FOR IT! I had no effing idea when I bought it. I could have been running with nice cold A/C this whole time.... :(

I then snipped off my POS zip ties that tore up my radiator fins (I dont recommend them, it is better to fab up a bracket to mount to a tapped location), and what do you know, more mounting places for the stock fan :)

I had to pull off the upper radiator hose to slide the fan in, there simply was no other way. She slid in, top two bolts in, and bam, nice OEM fully functional radiator fan. Much better than the slim fan as the OEM one has a shroud on it to move/funnel more air. I need to put a bolt into the bottom to support the fan, but the top two hold it up very well, and Im not worried of it falling off (for the moment). I could put pictures up, but who wants to look at OEM fans? You all know what they look like.

I am also placing an order for my cams and valvetrain. The cams are back-ordered, and should ship mid-june. No problem for me, as it will give me more time for the next paycheck to hit my account :)
