Yes you can put adjustable cam gears on without putting in camshafts. People do it for show. I don't think it's worth it, if you don't have aftermarket camshafts.

the plug n play modules are for fairy tails. kind of like this -->

For dc5's and fa-civic si's there is an ecu modification that hondata offers, its called kpro reflash. 'It works' but those things aren't specifically tuned to your specific modifications. They are pre-set 'tuned' to tell your engine to shoot more gas. Or so everyone says. I don't think there's a reflash for bseries engines and if there was i'd be a little iffy about it.

if its bad, rebuild it. just think of it as an upgrade.

as for the cam gears, yes u can put them on, but as jznsn2u said, purely show

yeah but the labor is going to cost me a fortune!!!!
Yea, but this isn't a cheap hobby.
As far as the cam gears, you have no need for them. Adjustable cam gears should be adjusted when you're tuning so you do adjust wrong and cause detrimental effects on the car with improper tuning.

buy another motor rebuild with intention to turbo or run nitrous. then get ur gears and cams and have the car tuned for the perfect ride.

Buy a motor and rebuild it? Why waste the money on another engine when he has a motor that can be built sitting in his engine bay..............

In my opinion, a rebuild is always going to be better than swapping in a used motor. You wont know the condition of that engine until its in and running.
