Hey guys im new on this forum. Well i have a problem with my transmission. First things first i just recently bought a 1990 integra automatic, and im having problems with it right now. When im driving the S3 light keeps blinking and it has a hard time switching gears. Sometimes while im driving im at a steady idle like around 3000 it just jumps like its not grabbing. What could be the problem??

i asked a couple of my friends and they are saying it might be my torque converter. can it also be one of my sensor from the tranny??

please i really need help.. i have not dealt with an automatic before.. THANK YOU!!

I had the S3 light flashing on my 90 integra the other day. try this, on the firewall (back panel where your gas and brake pedal are mounted up to) check to the left of the brake pedal and there should be a metal box with a few wires plugged into it, make sure there all plugged in. if that doesnt work heres something i found that might help you http://autorepair.about.com/library/faqs/bl025i.htm

check if your low on automatic transmission fluid. The liquid should be red.

Yeah check the level. And if your ATF is full, check if it smells like burned wood. That's a sign of old fluid.

when i got the car i checked the fluid and there was too much. so i drained it and put new one. and it didnt smell like burn or had any metal stuff..

not right when i turn on the car. it turns on only sometimes when im driving. but i cant determin when it will turn on. sometimes it will turn on. sometimes it wouldnt. and when the CEL goes on i could just turn the car off and turn it on again, then the CEL will go away but if i keep driving thr light will go on again..

i also have the same problem, i read the code on the tcu and it flashed a code 9.
i belive the code means lockup clutch not engaged.

ive yet to find a fix for it
